Farm chatter

My Elderly hen Spunky, looks as she may not make it through this winter.

I'm letting her pass naturally, since she thinks she's people.
She would be very chatty, always wants to go where I go, has a bossy attitude towards new birds.
But now she's starting to get picked on(Not badly), by a younger, hen, or two occasionally. I think they know she's not gonna live through winter.

she is beautiful sorry to hear she isn't well.

Hey everyone, it has been a bit since I have been able to actually be on BYC. Work has been crazy, chickens are keeping me happy and DDs are running me ragged, lol. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

She has begun the dying process this morning, all I can do is keep her comfortable.

I am so sorry. RIP, Spunky. Fly high, pretty lady!
:hugs for you and Spunky.

I'm sure she knew she was loved.
Her 7 - 8 year old friend Fuzzy Feet is still going strong, & is still laying. She's probably gonna live to 10, if not 12.

Well, at least the death of one bird gives me an excuse for hatching an extra chick.

I'm debating between a Goober baby, & a Maran baby.

Or breeding Phoenix the OEGB rooster to Pea, or a silkie for a chick to take Spunky's place.
