"Farm Fresh Eggs Are Pooped On" R U Kidding?

I agree. However, a couple of things need to be acknowledged, just in terms of fairness. The average BYC, at least by appearances, are somewhat regular users of antibiotics. How many threads here ask about dosing using antibiotics? A whole bunch. Let's just be fair, that's all I'm saying. (We operate an organic farm, and we also process the majority of our own food, to the extent that we possibly can, just to add that disclaimer.)

The commercial layer farm, no matter one's opinion of the caged system, is not allowed hormones by the USDA in the production of either table birds or eggs.

I have literature I give out with my eggs on how nutritious pasture fed chicken eggs are and how unnutritious commercial eggs are. I highlight the important parts.

We can't all afford to eat 100% organic but we can afford to eat healthy by choosing those things we can afford that are less harmful.

When I was in middle school I raised two turkey poults, they imprinted on me so they would follow me if they were out of the brooder.

Once I left them in my room and my sister came in while I was downstairs, they followed her and she started screaming bloody murder and by the time I got there, these two little turkey poults had my seventeen year old sister treed on her bed howling and crying. I've never laughed so hard in my life!! I gathered up my two little poults and took them back to the brooder, still laughing. How anyone could be that terrified of something that weighs less than a pound, I'll never know.

My little sister (Fixing to be 21 in December.) Wont touch a fresh egg or even get near my chickens and ducks because to her they are disgusting.

I tell her shes crazy because theres nothing better than a fresh egg. From the coop to the table.

My daughter (whom is 3 years old.) helps gather 3 eggs every other day and she chooses the fresh eggs over the store bought. I am 23 years old(We lived in the city most of my life.) but I have always had a love for the country life style.) I have never owned chickens before this April and now I cant get enough. Even before they started laying.

I love my girls. I know who lays which eggs what days they lay. (I only have 3 hens so its not that hard lol.) Wish I had room for cows and goats and pigs and sheep and just a whole farm!! Fresh everything. (I dont process my own meat or anything lol I dont have the heart for it lol.

) To be honest I dont think I could live with out my fresh eggs:p Its sad that more and more people lose the value of where our food comes from and how it is raised. To me and my family we are thankful for every day God gives us the chance to have fresh eggs. and fresh veggies in the spring and summer time.

The first time I took a dozen eggs to work to sell I got all kinds of questions. I worked with mostly young ladies in their early 20's and I apparently was the closest thing they knew to "farm living". I was asked "aren't eggs just chicken poop?" and "Can turkeys and chicken have babies together?" to which smartaleck me answered...."of course....where do you think Turduckens come from?"

I do remember not wanting to eat them at first too...a little too yellow for my taste....I finally got over that and after a few months I ordered egg salad at a deli and it was way too pale not yellow enough.....and no flavor! I had to ease into turkey eggs too....haven't quite been able to do duck egg yet....
