How did you handle the heat without AC today Camille? You are lucky it's breezy there.. but still.. this heat was disgusting. One of my rabbits looks about dead from heat exhaustion :(
We have an ac but it only seems to cool the bedroom(To the point that you wake up freezing). I really need to get a fan for my office -_-

I'd love to wake up freezing. Just get more blankets. Nice and cozy :D

Wrapped the bunny in a cold towel and brought her cold iceberg lettuce to help hydrate her. If only she'd eat... She was moving around a bit more, but still seems confused and dazed. She is in the coldest part of the barn and is hopefully going to make it.

That's why I said cool, not cold. Problem with wetting their ears is then you up with water in their ears. After 40 years of raising rabbits, we've seen a lot of heat stroke in Texas.

Another option is rubbing alcohol to the paw pads and outsides of the ears.

She is lop eared, so no problems there :)

The cool water seems to have helped. I'd say it was roughly 70-80 degree water.

Poor bunny.. She was all covered in mud trying to stay cool.

Do you give them frozen bottles? I run misters in my barn. As well as fans. Since yours are loose, I would hang a mister hose about cheat high through the trees they hang in. I do that for my chickens and horses b

No I don't, but next heat wave I will consider it. Tomorrow is supposed to be much better, and right into the weekend just in the high 70's and 80's. I think they should be fine after tomorrow.. At least for a week.

They ran out of water while we were at work today, someone (coughgoatscough) tipped over a waterer.
