Thank you! The hen is Lacey, one of my Silver Pencil Rocks....and the little chick we currently call Cleo (gotta love the eye liner) and we are hoping is a pullet. It is a barnyard mix, the last one which looked like this turned into a gorgeous little hen and I regret selling her, but she went to a good home, so all is good.
We had 2 more hens hatch out clutches overnight last night, 2 of them look just like Cleo did as a hatchling, eye liner and all...so hoping we have a few more and get some pullets from the group. We have something like 28 chicks hatched with broodies since the last week of January. Our hens must figure if they are going to be bored in the miserable weather they might as well hatch out some babies to keep them occupied!

Maybe your broodies know spring is coming. It has to happen somewhere. I'm sure we aren't getting it here. I spent 10 days trying to clear snow off the driveway - and I quit.

You should seen my heifer when we introduced her to the rest of the herd with the other heifers. She just starts picking fights, running, bucking, she even tried picking a fight with the bull and the bull just looked at her. She's a 10 months old right now.
