Lets not forget that without a certain amount of linebreeding (inbreeding) we would not have distintive breeds in any species. As animals have become domesticated they in turn have been selectively bred to create or fix a type. This desire to fix a type is driven by human need, desire, or whimsy. In many cases whimsy is the driving force. We try to discover or fix new colors within breeds in poultry and in order to do that inbreeding is required. Sire to direct off spring is almost a must for this to happen. And many times to get early starts within a breed siblings are bred to each other then crossed another way fairly quickly to avoid huge genetic issues. An issue for science and genetics not one for Moral or ethical criteria to be applied.
For the life of me I do not understand why we associate a culture's norm's value's and morals with animals. Every society must have these value's morals and concsience or we would certainly fail, but it has little to do with animal behavior.
I beleive that the OP had no intent of starting a discussion on Anthropomorphism and was just asking a question regarding breeding, but I watch many threads associate human behaviors and attributes to animals and I find it troubling.
If need be I will take this minor rant to another thread but here you are
