Father Daughter breeding???

Quote:
I would say chemicals or a strange mutation not breeding perse.

Inbreeding father to daughter or brother to sister is fine with animals. It is used to set traits the breeder wants. After that line breeding is used which is great grand parents to great grand daughter or son. Then at some point one does a line outcross which is using a chicken usually a rooster from someone elses breeding that does not have any of your brids or line in it.

I thought brother to sister was inbreeding and not reccmended. And linebreeding which is done alot is father to daughter and mother to son and on down the line. There are charts showing this.

Brother to sister will intensify traits, good and/or bad. I've done it myself with no bad issues , though it brought out traits that were common to each other, though not manifested in the siblings themselves. It's just not the best way to breed, but not a terrible no-no, depending on what you want out of the progeny.

I know this is an old posting, but still hope I can get an answer. I have 8 silver penciled eggs in the "bator" and was wondering about this topic. So when you say intensify traits, do mean the colors/markings or basically what could I expect if/ when some of these baby chix grow up and become hens & roos and do their thing?
