Thanks. I believe it was a coon as it pullet her leg through the cage bottom and then knawed on the head. The boys and remaining Marans pullet are safe and sounds in a new coop that is safer. That is where the pullets I get to replace this girl will go. The boys are going back to my friends farm as they are finding their voices.

I hate battling the raccoons... seems like they always get the best to be gotten, it is spooky, like they know which birds will hurt the most

this year i hatched out over 200 E/E and O/E for a costumer that wanted 100 pullets so they could sell the eggs... i have all my breeders in pens but i have all those extra cockerels out running loose as predator bait lol... i have lost a few but not as many as i thought i would... i figured they would go after the less valuable birds running loose before digging into my breeding pens and killing my good birds...

I am planning on doing something similar next year, just have not decided which breed to go with yet for my free rangers. (I am open to suggestions and egg donations LOL)

I know why couldn't they just have taken the crappy Marans pet pullet that was in there to keep her company? Now that one is in with the laying hens safe and sound. Oh well thats how it goes I guess.

Some EE's or Marans would be good as long as you can find cheap/ free eggs. At least you will have some colorful eggs then. Don't get games I feel like they are to wiley for the predators haha.

I also love them we are just starting to raise them I have one rooster, but lost both pullets one got sick and one to possum.
