That is awesome! What did you use to make them. OrpingtonXFaverolles? Looks like a nice chick.

I do have one black pullet that's Orp x Fav that piperomar made, she's a by-product of her lavender Fav project, but no, this one is the offspring of a very oversized black bantam cock and my two largest salmon pullets. I have two other chicks that hatched out yellow with dark chipmunk stripes, I banded them, I think they'll end up black too. They look just like the weirdness I've seen in my bantam blacks from time to time.

Oh nice. That sounds like a promising cross. That is interesting about the yellow chicks with chipmunk stripes. Good luck with the black project. Love the look of the largefowl black birds that Dick had as well as the Pamela Maynard in Texas. I didn't know Piperomar was working on lavender faverolles. Dick disbanded his lavender project birds. So its good someone is still working on them.

I am hoping to have Black LF Favs. too in the future ! ! ! The more folks the merrier....VBG.........

With folks working on these new color crosses, are you finding differences in their personality and hardiness....

I also have a question about Mahogany Favs.......besides the several mixed birds,i have the trio from Sandhill that i am working with....the male is the typical red boy.....but the 2 girls are slightly different.... One is lighter chestnut brown with a white beard, the other is darker with the same darker colored beard.....Anyone know if there is/was a specific pattern for the female or is this now new territory again????? Does anyone have a preference????? in the interest of uniformity??????

i to am just starting a Mahogany project... i have 2 males about a month old and some eggs that should hatch in the next day or so

i also have a possibility of getting a hatchery hen that is the Mahogany color... so any and all info would be great... including a good pic of a male and female...
