That's a mite early. It's the hardest thing ever to wait, but then I remember that we can tell the favs so much earlier than, say, barred rocks, so we are pretty lucky.

Okay. I don't see any black on the shoulders. There is just a little flecking and otherwise there is that unusual 'salmon' color. Who thinks up these color names anyway?

Ok, I'm putting up some pics of my roo for your critiquing.... He's 5 months old. My biggest concern is whether or not he has the split-wing phenomenon. How does his comb look? What about his general over all color?

Nope, wings look good.

I like him!!!

He's a nice boy. He likes to come close and then skirt away real quick when I reach toward him!

I don't know why, but I find that very funny! Like he doesn't want my "cooties" or something :)

Actually, that is being respectful and not a bad thing =:~)

Yeah, I know - and I try not to handle the boys too often, I would hate to be the demise of a good roo! - Some people say handling them can make them less respectful, I don't know if it's true, but I try not to test the theory....

He'll get right under my feet, but if I have to reach out to do something - he dashes off

Perfect. I don't handle my males at all. I'd rather them be respectfully fearful of me, than to consider me an equal to be challenged later on.
