Yeah, I know - and I try not to handle the boys too often, I would hate to be the demise of a good roo! - Some people say handling them can make them less respectful, I don't know if it's true, but I try not to test the theory....

He'll get right under my feet, but if I have to reach out to do something - he dashes off

Oh I don't know about that! My Fav boys are the sweetest guys and expect their hugs everynight. They bow their little head down to get a bigger hug! They have never been disrespectful ever. I really love the Fav boys!

Here is a picture of Squiggy since it has been awhile. He is the head roo here and has been good to the girls and the chicks. I will have to get an updated picture of Lenny tomorrow. Lenny is 2nd in command here.

Perfect. I don't handle my males at all. I'd rather them be respectfully fearful of me, than to consider me an equal to be challenged later on.

Exactly!

Same here! Even if they just *think* I have a treat!

Today when I caught him for the pics, he actually pecked my hand for violating his personal space! Can't say I blame him, I broke the rule

There's always an exception to the rule! I hope he stays that way for ya

- I like the pic of him looking at the camera, his comb looks like the top of a Roman soldier's helmet!

This is practice so bear with me... but the cock above has a five point comb as far as I can tell, right? But the one posted before him had a broken or v point toward the back. Is that just a point taken off the three that are given to combs at shows?

I have been trying to treat my roos like I treat my dogs, I give them attention, but make sure that I let them know that I am the leader and set strict rules that are enforced every time. When one acts up I pick him up, hold and pet him until he calms down and gently set him back down, if he still acts up I repeat it. So far this has worked to me for all but one little D'uccle roo who would just go after anything in sight, but I have only had a hand full of roos in the past.

No, he just has one small extra point at the back. 5 points is ideal, but one or two more or less is acceptable. An extra point on a comb, as far as showing goes, is 1/2 point deduction. When the whole bird is judged based on 100points, it's quite a minimal deduction.

n8ivetxn - you are right! They do look like little Roman Soldiers looking straight on like that and I hope the Squigster will be a lover forever!

Lenny was out visiting the neighbors so I am posting some pics from about a month ago. He is a little more reserved than Squiggy but still lovable.

And here is sweet little Shirley!

I would like to post a few (or more) pics of the three chicks here for confirmation of sex if possible. I tried to keep these just wing shots.

They all seem to have salmon shoulders and dark primaries. Please, someone tell me they aren't all male.

Looking at these now I am not sure you are going to be able to tell anything. I will try again in another week or so when feathers are even more clear.

One of the group enjoying the grass. Its our first sunny day in a while.
