Faverolles Thread

There were many new members that felt that way and I thought it was me. Glad it was not.

Very glad it was re organized. I never did find out why the original board was overhauled. It was a bit much after while. Rose and Dick along with one or two members that really made me feel welcome. The rest of them kind of "ignored" me. After all, what has happened to them? Rose's website was old and Dick's was pretty much disappeared. Mike Stapish, from what I heard, he got out of Faverolles.

The last of the good breeders would be Gayle Pontious which she has some beautiful Faverolles.

Henry's Favs and Nikki's Favs would be just as good or perhaps even better, because they have better, full looking beards.

Rock N' Faverolles :

Henry, The club is still active, but the website is still in the process of being updated. Everyone is busy.
Dues are $10 a year and can be sent to:
Leisha Comer
14499 Kettlersville Rd.
Wapakoneta, Ohio 45895
I recommend the club to anyone who enjoys Faverolles.

The board was overhauled because people asked to be replaced as their personal lives were taking priority (and they should). I believe Rose still has Favs but she is too busy as well to do much with the club. Dick has sold most of his birds, and I think Mike is out of Favs. Gayle may or may not raise Favs anymore. Her website is down, and I cannot nor can the club secretary get hold of her. There are still a handful of other good breeders out there, but they are just hard to find. The club can help you out in locating stock. I hope to have some younger birds for sale around the end of 2010 (Large fowl and bantam).

I am so glad there is an interest in Faverolles again. When I started showing, sometimes I would have the only birds in the entire Continental class even. Competition (at certain shows) is getting better and better and the quality is starting to improve. If you want to improve the club, as with any club, once you join, ask what you can do to help. Once I get back from overseas, I plan on getting club meets at almost all the shows in my area to help promote the breed. The Faverolles are a wonderful breed, but they do present challenges to breed, and that is why many people do not stick with them. Stick with them, and you will be pleased. The bantams are some of the tamest birds I ever raised. I think they came out of the shell that way.

Rock N' Faverolles, I am so glad to get this info about the club as I am just starting out with Faverolles myself. I believe I will join since, hopefully, it will help me learn more about this great breed.

Henry, good luck with your hatch. I am putting some (7) of my Faverolles eggs in the 'bator today along with some silkies (yes, the alien chickens have gotten to me!) and a few EE/Faverolles cross eggs. This will be my first time to incubate eggs and I have a feeling its going to be a long 21 days!

I am hopeing to get some eggs from someone who shows. I tried to contact Rose through both her Faverolles Fanciers email and her Website. I also found a few other breeders online.

Thanks,
Henry

As for Dick I do not think he has that active email anymore. He is not responding to any of the emails I sent him.

Well, I'd be gobsmacked!!!! It might be worth a try to get back into Faverolles LOL! I am a sucker for them and if I was not into Spitzhaubens, I would have gotten back into the breed again. Oh the temptation!

I have not heard from Gayle for a good while since our "fall out" a couple years ago. I know the Faverolles are like the other breeds, it waxes and wanes with the times but the disposition of these birds from breeders remained consistent!

How am I supposed to become a member if Dick doesn't have an active email? should I send him my payment or do I need to send it to someone else?

Thanks,
Henry
