I am excited I am going to hatch around 20 favs this spring and expand my flock up to around 10 or 12 pullets and 2 cockerals in both blue salmon and salmon and try and keep the nicest cockeral.
Ive decided to sell everything but my faverolles and I am going to try and hatch as many faverolles as I can. I was wondering if anyone is a member of the Faverolles Fanciers of America. I was considering becoming a member but the site doesn't seem all that active I was wondering if its worth it.
I was a member three or four years ago and it sucks! Now after I have heard that there was an "overhaul" of board members running the club, now that would be something worthwhile to look into. I loved getting the emails but it seems like to me it was "clicky" and if you were a newbie, they brushed you off or if you are not well known, you were pushed aside. I hated it and decided it was not worth it. Dick Boulanger used to be one of the board and he was very helpful. So was Rose Isgrigg.
Hope the Faverolle club would be better this time!
Yes, as of 2006 (big Indy show) the club was reorganized, and then it was reorganized a second time after that. All the officers seem to be doing a better job. When I first joined, I was a newbie and everyone seemed more than willing to help me out. The club in general is pretty small as the breed is rare, so that may be why you considered it 'clicky'. If you have particular questions about the club, you can pm me.
Why not join if it can help support those who are supporting the Faverolles & their improvement. I'm a member & have gotten a reply every time I asked a question. The send occasional emails & I especially enjoyed the pictures of an annual show with the ribbon holders, good to see show quality standards.
