Faverolles Thread

That's great Dick! How are they looking type-wise?

Here are some pics of my blacks:

I think they need some work on their shape though. They are more round than trapezoidal. Great toes and beards though. Dick, the cockerel is from the eggs you sent me and he is HUGE! He wouldn't stand still long enough for me to get a good pic of him. If the sunny weather holds out, maybe I can get out of the shop long enough to snap a few pics of him as well as my mahogany project birds. I ended up keeping a cockerel and pullet of yours, a Merlin pullet and hatched two pullets worth keeping from my own birds so have a decent group to work with next spring.
These are sooooo Kool, I am so happy for mine, Thanks for sharing, they are lovely......Mine are just starting to get time out of the pen but are still very shy around other birds.....eliz

I've heard about the Black Favs, but I think these are the first I've seen - really nice, round or not! Really nice birds

I think Jeanine had a few at the Stevenson show last spring.....May have been in the 4-H.....bantam and beautiful.....

quick question, a couple days ago Sammy began sneezing, i put him on tetracycline and the sneezing has cleared up, but he seems pretty tired- do faverolles respond different to meds? if so, what ou what would be a good alternative for 'colds' here is a pic of him today, he is also molting- might that be part of the lethargy?

HI, i seem to have a few this way every fall as the weather yo-yos very hot and very cold....I add electrolytes and emergen-C to their water too. I also check their feathers for lice & mites since not everyone will have them in the same pen....more those whose systems are compromised....I may worm if they are underweight. I also have a pen that i can have a heat lamp so they don't have to use energy to keep warm if they are not feeling their best...extra feed in case they have been intimidated at the feeder....before long they are ok again....eliz

Real nice birds. Like the type. Should be a great time at the Congress show. Planning on showing a few birds. Looks like we are going to have a bunch of Faverolles people there. Can't wait.
