Faverolles Thread

LOL that's great stuff!!!!! My friend is already expecting that stuff from me and making fun.... The look on his face if he saw a diaper on a chicken would be priceless!!! my 11 week old Faverolle "Britches" is the only one that responds to her name, she is still not a fan of being held (never has like being held) but she likes to by my side or on my computer lol.... she likes to type.
My newest 2 from Meyers are very out going and the one I think is the male likes to cuddle under my chin, the Faverolle from the feed store is pretty scared still but she is already jumping from the feeder to the perch, so now just have to work on her getting used to me. The Easter eggers and mystery chick are also more outgoing the my last brood so I hope they are even friendlier then my current girls.  I love all of them some may go live with my dad later on and it is hard to see that day how will I decide who to keep here with me, they are all my babies!
Also I am still trying to decide if I am going to keep my Speckled Sussex; ended up being a rooster :( I was only planing on the one Fav roo, he is so pretty, but he is loosing his friendliness he is not aggressive yet just avoids me and freaks out when I go to pick him up. He used to come to me when he was a little one so it is sad for me to see him so sacred all of the sudden.

Pits sad when roos change, I'm not sure he's scared of you as much as you are killing his street cred in front if the others, he can't be seen to be liking cuddles anymore, its like when my kids started high school and made me park round the corner from school to pick them up so their mates didn't see me!
My cockerel cuddles was adorable, really naughty and funny but amazing, I loved him so much but he's had to go to a new home and although I miss him I know he's gone somewhere nice( with lots of ladies)

Here are my 2 new salmon babies, 2 days old, should be a male & female pair

These are adorable….Where did they come from…..Real fluffy cute….

I was at the MN state fair today and they had 4 SF with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places. Not sure if that is all the SF they had entered or if thats all that had to stay "on display" for the fair? No Roosters either. Anyhow, I was really surprised none of them had the 5 pts in the com b (either barely there bumps, different sized pts, or huge comb), none of the extra toes were correct (1st place one foot has what looked like one toe but split on the very tip?) muffs were "smudged" and small etc. Does confirmation hold that much weight? I did notice that 3 of them were very large? and they were solid chest and nicely shaped.

On another note, I came home and went to lock up the coop around 10 or so and one of my pullets is missing? Out of 12 SF hatched I had 2 pullets. I can;t figure this out as over 3/4of the run is covered, there are no feathers around, the flock all seemed calmed and undisturbed, etc. I am hoping and praying that she shows up in the morning! 2 of us were walking around in the woods, behind the barn etc, I took out one of the other chicks to have it make noise-nothing! :-(

ETA: This pullet is 2 months old, very light and beautiful too! We named her "lucky" as it was one of the eggs I almost didnt bother putting under my broody as it appeared to have hairline cracks in it. Then when I numbered the eggs for tracking, it ended up with the # 13 lol so her name was a must! Sure hoping to see her in a few hours when the sun comes up

These 2 came from Meyers Hatchery. They are real fluffy and adorable. The peacher one I believe is the female and the male is the light yellow with a tiny fluffy lion mane, they are already showing the wing color difference at 6 days old, and seem to be of better quality so far. my feed store SF is not as fluffy but has what appears to be good coloring so far. My, My Pet Chicken SF pullet was not this fluffy at their age and she has poor coloring not at all what I was expecting, she is my Muddy Britches :)
overall I am impressed with my Meyers chicks. looking forward to seeing how they look grown up but enjoying the sweetness of the tiny babies as long as possible

That's good to know, and makes sense!

Angiebubs,
Has she come back? :fl
I did find one of mine roosting in a tree once when she got out. They usually come back when they hear the other flock mates.

I just opened the coop and still no signs of her. No signs of feathers or struggle anywhere either. I am still hoping she turns up
I "Lost" a pullet one night because I had to work and DH was too busy watching TV to put the birds in the coop. Turns out she had gone in the barn and wedged herself between two bales of hay. She couldn't get out without help. I hope your girl turns up soon!

THanks all! No signs of her. I walked through the woods behind the barn/coop, called treats (they all come running for scratch with the treat call), let them out to free range and have been out there all morning-nothing.
