Its hot here today 95 and humid and its been like that all week! The birds are all adapting pretty well but I give them fresh cold water 3 times a day and keeping all the doors and windows open. I took some pictures of the birds they have developed some pretty cool strategies to stay cool they have been playing around in the sprinkler and they always stay in the shade either under the coop or on the shaded side of the trees.

Here is Cindy's blue hen

How's Miss blue doing?

Hi Leisha sadly I decided to help her along yesterday she had really been suffering in the heat I let Cindy know and I was going to let you know. She seemed to be getting worse and worse and I didn't think there was any chance of her regaining mobility. What ever happened to her must have been terrible and I feel really bad about it!

My suggestion then would just put her down. No need for her to suffer anymore. But that is Cindy's decision

Thats what I meant by "Help her along" I was trying to put it gently. I felt the same way about keeping her in pain any longer and it makes me feel a bit better that you would have done the same. Cindy had let me know that it was an option and I let her know last week that I was considering it. I also let her know yesterday after I did it.

The blue hen that is going to Cindy is getting sweeter and sweeter by the day! She runs full tilt at me when I come outside and she is free ranging. The black male and I have come to an understanding and he is coming around I think.

I think they'll be happy to get up here and out of that outrageous heat! It will be 92 tomorrow, but back down into the 70s for the rest of the week.
