Faverolles Thread

Very true.

One can also tell BBS salmon by down color (the fluff). Dark grey is salmon, blue-grey is blue salmon and white is splash salmon. It isn't always easy to tell blue salmon fluff from salmon fluff though.

So Peter how is that feral bantam lav project going?

Dick will hopefully be coming up this weekend to go over the teenagers with me. I'm looking forward to hearing the evaluation!

Thanks for posting this Peter! I know we went through this all in email but everyone in the Faverolles world needs to be informed.

I am fairly new to the Faverolles breed. I bought some eggs on Ebay this spring and hatched out 1 pullet and 4 roos. I am going to try to post pics to get some critique on them, they were all hatched mid march, so they are about 7 months. I am very taken with them, they have very fun personalities, and I think their coloring is just awsome, but I would like someone elses opinion on them, that knows more about what to breed for.

My first attempt at uploading pics so we will see if it worked.

Is the pullet beardless? They look nice and fat. It looks like the cockerels comb has to many points as well. They look to have good color but type is the most important.

Ya Henry that is what stuck out at me was her lack of beard........

cockerel looks beardless too! but didn't someone a few hundred pages back post a Brit site that was developing a beardless fav and calling it something else but admitting they were really just beardless favs!

sounds like i'm rambling here

he has nice color in his wingbows! her color looks nice throughout her back too!

I think I figured out how to upload photo's so I want to put another pic of my roos, to get some opinions on what to look for, to breed the best possible bird.

Thanks everyone for your replies, the pullet is beardless - I thought maybe that was because she was young? I love them, but at the same time I am interested in breeding for the betterment of the breed as well as for fun. As I said before, I have much to learn about this breed, but I am very smitten with them. I have just started letting them forage in the yard the last couple weeks and locking them up at night. They seem to have really silly personalities running around the yard, chasing each other, but they are quiet and friendly.
