Faverolles Thread

She looks like a mahogany. I would breed her to a salmon male and see what you get. I think it would be very interesting.

Dick, you are an enabler!

I was actually considering breeding her to Mac. I can't remember if I've posted his pic or not but here he is:

I wonder if this is a good idea or not as Mac's mother looked like this:

I wonder if I would get predominately "mahogany" babies? Only one way to find out I suppose . . .

Haha! Yes, resign yourself as you will be a habitual egg collector for quite some time!

As always, Fav chicks are just too cute! Yours are bantams aren't they? I am fortunate too in that a lot of my local people enjoy having my culls for their layer flocks.

Thanks - yes, all bantams. But, they pretty much all have local homes for pets already - assuming they're not all boys.

Heads up people! I had my red Faverolles shirt on at Delmarva this past weekend and three different people stopped me and asked if I was a breeder. I think the word is getting out.

Jon Patterson had a beautiful LF pair there. One other cockeral that had an almost white beard, and other issues. A nice pullet. And a really lovely little bantam cock. I'll post pics later - the exhibitor list is still in my car, so I don't remember whose they were.

Next show for me is Sussex in May, then that's it until the fall.

I feel that that would be a great breeding. The black in her beard should give your cockerels full black beards. That male is really nice. I wouldn't mind a few eggs from that breeding.

Mame1616 that was you in the faverolles shirt? wish i could have talked to you, i showed one salmon faverolle pullet at delmarva, but did the best with my black silkie pullet (grand champion jr bantam)

Dad was at Delmarva with the Salmons. He took Champion Continental! I keep telling him he needs to show under his name for now on with the Faverolles.
Peter, very nice Females!

Ok Folks, am having chick envy,
New question....Really like the clean straw neck look, but 4 of my bantam roos have percentages of brown smudges each side of the neck,,,,,,one has almost half his neck dark brown. Trying to find out his breeder, someone in California who raises many i have heard ( am 3rd owner). When judging from a show aspect. Which is prefered, clean straw neck or is side smudges ok, if so how much is ok. Thanks, eliz martin
