Faverolles Thread

They are very very sweet birds. The roos are good around kids too. GET US PICS!!!

I love my roo crowing. He's got such a pretty clear crow. Nice high pitch to it. He'll crow ALOT early in the day, and then quiet down, and then crow alot again about midday, but I think its cuz they are on a goodies schedule, and its like he's calling the girls, and he will go over and try and steal the neighbors pullets and bring them home... Such a funny guy. Eats out of my hand too. His name is Mr. Fluffers...

My sister says he looks like a drag queen cuz she's never seen such a flamboyant roo. You can't see from this angle, but he's got dark lilac purple and green in his tail feathers...

Oh no!!! That's terrible! Oh, the pain! Let's just hope she's got some secret love nest going on. Great, not I'm gonna be up worrying! Keep me posted!

Mary, Still no sign of her. Lennie runs over to the other end of the barn and still calls for her every morning. The day she disappeared she was there for the evening treat which was about 5 pm and then by the time I went to close the coop for the night at about 7, she wasn't anywhere to be found. I just can't figure it out. Usually all 4 are together or at the very least 2 are together at all times. There are no feathers in the barn or outside to indicate something got her, it is just like she disappeared??? None of them wander far at all and stay either inside the barn or only a few feet around the barn. Then I thought maybe she got herself stuck somewhere and couldn't get out but I looked in, under and behind everything I could think of. If she was a wanderer, there are lots of pastures and fields around us, I would think maybe she wandered off and couldn't find her way back but none of the fav's liked to be far from the barn. I am heartbroken. She was one of my favorites and I had to take her off of the coop door every night and put her inside the coop and of course we would always have to snuggle for awhile. She loved to snuggle. I think she would perch on the coop door just to be sure she got to snuggle! LOL I will definitely let you know if she turns up but it has been so long now I am afraid something happened to her.

I was lucky enough to hatch 1 cockerail and 4 pullets from Jeanine McKee and yesterday when I got home the cockerail had gotten his head stuck in the fence and died. So I am now looking for a SQ roo in South GA if anyone has one they would like to sell. I'll be at the Inverness show and the Sunshine Classic in Jan. if anyone in Fla has anything also. Thanks.

New to Farming - SO sorry to hear about your Laverne - breaks my heart!

I just got my first pair this weekend and i have to say they are fast becoming my favorites!

I had a question - when i got mine there were three pairs to choose from and i picked the ones that i felt had the best body types. I am not looking to show - well not at this point lol - BUT the hen i picked - lovely but she has a tiny bit of smut in her beard. I f you go by al lthe old time breeders - they say build the barn and worry about painting it later - how difficult will this smut or black be to get out? Will this cross to her chicks? Either way i adore her and will - just curious?
Thanks!
