Faverolles Thread

Snapped a few photos of some of the new girls last night. Going to bathe the rest of them before they have their photo oppertunity. These aren't the best as they are inside and the flash had to be on.

My favorite pullet that Cindy gave me. Her tail is still growing in. But she is huge compared to the other ones.

Another of the pullets. Great beard and muff. She is still filling in. She she isn't quiet as hefty as the first one.

A third pullet. This one is from Dick. She has a lot of growing still to do. Her beard and muff are still growing as there are a lot of pin feathers in there.

My roommate snapped this one. Gotta love their personalities.

Just wanted to let you guys know I have a quad of LF Favorelles for sale. Can only have 1 classified post for some reason. The hens I have came from eggs I got from Jeannine at Cloverleaf. I am selling alot of my birds due to my husbands decline in health. You can PM me for details. thanksHere are some pics

Oh, darn, I'm so sorry you have to sell them...looks like they turned out really nice for you!!

Guys...I need a shoulder to cry on....

I feel like I'm going to be sick.

Except for one pullet, when I opened the box, all of the bantam whites were dead.

So are the LF black hens Cindy sent me.

So are the LF salmon pullets Cindy sent for n8ivetxn.

Two boxes, everything dead except for one pullet.

I've never had dead birds arrive before. I know the USPS won't actually do anything, but I called my PO anyway, they are looking into it for me. My PO is awesome.

I don't even know what to do right now....

Oh my goodness I am so sorry. This is terrible! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
The P.O must have put them in a place with no air or something. Can't imagine how you must feel. I am really sad now to. Hope the little white girl is alright.

I keep just randomly bursting into tears. My PO did some checking into things, and he said that the only thing he could think of is that maybe they went onto the wrong kind of flight and were put into a non-pressurized cargo area...but that wouldn't explain how the one pullet is alive and well. She looks great, comb is nice and red, and she hopped right up and started eating as soon as I took her out of the box...she even laid an egg on the way here...

He said that as long as they arrive within 3 days, there is nothing they can do for me. They arrived in 40 hours.

That is just awful.

I am so afraid of shipping birds. What a waste. I hope it was quick for them. So sorry Jeanine...

That wouldn't explain it would it. Very odd. It wouldn't have been to hot or cold at least it isn't here. All I can think of is rough handling and stress and the pullet was padded by her dead companions. Really terrible that hey can't do anything about it. Makes me glad I went to Maine to get mine. Well I am truly sorry this happened. Pretty heartbreaking Jeanine. Hope you can get started with whites some other way. I know Misty has some nice whites.

Oh no, I am so sorry, that is devastating. I hate shipping birds, some of the people that work for the post office are wonderful and care well for them, but then some others just treat them like random cargo. I only try to ship eggs anymore, it is not nearly as heart breaking to get a box of broken eggs. If they don't do anything at USPS about it to at least somewhat reimburse you then maybe we can collect signatures from people that had birds killed by mishandling this year, maybe a protest at all the post offices around the country, something has to change, they charge enough to ship them. It is so unthinkable to me that someone could not care about the little lives inside.
Hang in there, one made it, she will be extra special!

I need to add though, some people do care at USPS. The last time I shipped my local postal worker nearly made me cry when I picked them up. He had set the box up on a chair near his little space heater, then very gently handed me the box and said 'have a good trip home little guys' I could have hugged the man.
