Guys...I need a shoulder to cry on....

I feel like I'm going to be sick.

Except for one pullet, when I opened the box, all of the bantam whites were dead.

So are the LF black hens Cindy sent me.

So are the LF salmon pullets Cindy sent for n8ivetxn.

Two boxes, everything dead except for one pullet.

I've never had dead birds arrive before. I know the USPS won't actually do anything, but I called my PO anyway, they are looking into it for me. My PO is awesome.

I don't even know what to do right now....
I am so sorry~

Here is hoping those two eggs ARE fertile and you get a couple of babies.

That is tragic, how painful for you!

How far did they have to travel? Maybe we need a "Chicken Express". Set up a chain of people going the right direction and hand off from one to the next

My ONLY experience is the 12 "day olds" I got in June from Ideal. Since the hatcheries airmail "day olds" all the time, I imagine the really young ones aren't as traumatized by the travel as grown birds.

Bruce
They do a puppy express type thing for rescue/pound puppies that find homes in other states. I would be more than willing to "hand off" for anyone.

I've seen this. It works very well. - I would be willing to do a "hand off" for somebody..... I was really looking forward to having those pullets, they would've revolutionized my flock.

Before I found BYC I had no idea how "big" poultry, waterfowl and birds in general really are - business wise, and in the area of breed preservation/development. I see an opportunity here for an enterprising person to start a "small" business. Delivering birds cross country. There are several companies who do the same with other small animals, why not birds?

A disappointing first time experience....

I wish I could be useful here, but unless they are going to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket there is not much I can do unless I happen to be traveling... be happy to help anyone between where I live and Virginia next week when I head down there though.
