This is our rooster Big Daddy. I don't know for sure what his parentage is, but I think there's some red/gold sexlink in there somewhere.

This is a little OEGB x bantam Cochin cockerel that a broody hen hatched out earlier this spring. I named him Edgar.

I started breeding specifically for silkichins almost 5 years ago. I am on 3rd and 4th generation now. I stopped breeding them with the show silkies and show giant cochins, which were the original birds, over 3 years ago. Everything I have now is pure silkichin, and it's the only breed I have. I LOVE this breed, and I am currently working on a standard for them to try to get them into the show ring. They have the best temperament of any chicken I've ever been around. You can reach down and pet them while they eat. The roos are completely docile. The hens are good layers/brooders/moms and the roos actually sit in the hen house with their 'girls' while the girls are laying; I've even caught them sitting with the girls on a few occasions. They are a truly spectacular breed of chicken.

The silkichins found here in NC on this board originated here with me on Firestone Creek farm. :) I have sold quite a few breeding pairs over the past several years, trying to get this breed noticed and official. I need five people who will work with me to get the breed in the show ring. I do have some pairs for sale, and I have eggs for sale. I will also be selling eggs on eBay in small amounts. I am working on writing the standard for these right now and starting the breed club. They come in black, blue, lavender, splash, partridge, and rarely, white--bearded and non-bearded. Anyone interested?
