I’m getting bantams this upcoming spring to integrate into my flock. After some studying and comparing, I decided that bantams may be best for where I live.
What are your guys’s favorite bantam breeds? I have 2 picked out already, but I wanna know what you guys like!
Looking for docile and calm chickens that are able to be handled by gentle children.

I have a pair of Mille Fleur D’uccles. My rooster is a little aggressive but the hen ( who has a cross-beak) is so sweet!

What are YOUR 2 picks? I was literally going to post almost the same question when I found yours. We have OEGBs, and while we have 1 out of 4 who is super sweet, chirping in my ear, and I love listening to the little dude make music, they are all no touch & 3/4 of them are skiddish...and we invest so much time into our flocks...they just don't seem to fit too well with our flocks. I'm debating between lavender ameraucana bantams or EE bantams.

I loved my bantam Cochins

For children: bantam cochins. Mine were not hand raised, so they don't come to me, but are very docile once I'm handling them. I have a hen and a rooster.
I also have oegbs - a hen and rooster. They are very used to me as I raised them from chicks. They will let me pick them up and come when I call their names. I have 2 that I got earlier this summer and they aren't as friendly as in they are flighty. Well, one is actually a sebright. I wouldn't suggest that breed at all. She never favors being held or getting caught. But, the other oegb settles once I get a hold of her, but she doesn't enjoy my company. Hand raised I think any bantam would work except seabrights. 😂
*This is my experience, I'm sure someone else just loves sebrights. LOL

Some will say Silkies aren't bantams, and it doesn't matter to me, but that's what we've raised here for 8 years. They are easily tamed with a little bit of handling. They are fluffy and cuddly for kids to hold. They do tend to suffer from vitamin deficiencies if not fed properly, and all we do is supplement their feed with 1/2 strength Rooster Booster granules. That way they stay happy and healthy.

Marsha for example.

Ooh, I forgot, I also have a Silkie mix. She is definitely a bantam. I didn't hand raise her either, but she is coming around and being sweet. Now, if only I could break her broodiness. 🤣
What are the rooster booster granules?
