Favorite duck breed or breeds and why?

For calmness, good Broody, good mother’s good eradicators of bugs my pick is Muscovy. For all out laughs and keeping the farm fun is Indian Runner also excellent egg layers.

I was set on getting Muscovy's for the reasons @Miss Lydia mentioned above. But when I went to order them my wife and I were told they don't lay very many eggs, and home grown eggs is the reason my wife puts up with the mess. So sadly we haven't tried them yet

How many eggs do your Muscovy's lay @Miss Lydia ? Maybe we can change her mind lol. I am wondering if the hatcheries we were looking at were selling meat strains that just weren't bred for egg laying. I'll link one of them.

I absolutely love my muscovies. They're not laying age yet so can't help out too much in that area. But they are absolutely the sweetest, calmest, and most trusting ducks I've ever had! I've heard they dont lay that many eggs either. But that's what I have my WH, KC, and anconas for.

The reason they don’t lay that many eggs is because they are very broody.

Khaki Campbells for me.
My hen laid an egg EVERY single day until she went broody... now she has 2 ducklings! Here she is with my KC drake and her ducklings.

We love our Khaki Campbells- I swear by the breed. They're so nice and have good eggs. They're extremely intelligent!
