FDA raids Amish Farm

I'm not a doctor or an expert on illnesses, but I am skeptical whenever anyone adds the word "cure" to any single food or product. Cocaine was a cure for a child's moodiness and Heroine was a cure for sleeplessness. Now they are both illegal, addictive and deadly drugs.
Autism is still highly misunderstood and an unknown as to how it develops, how it affects people and how to treat it. Those with low grade autism may only need a better diet and a little more personal attention, while those with a high grade autism may need to be supervised and medicated all their life.
There isn't an end all, be all cure for mental disorders and abnormal psychologies. Some problems can be treated with diet and exercise, others require medication and the most extreme are helped by electro-convulsive therapies.

If there has been a conclusive study, not just a co-relational one, on the benefits of raw milk as a treatment for behavioral issues, deafness and autism I would like to see it.

Your right, that the word cure is not the best in this case.
And it is not one I use.
It is hard to find any real studies, because of the fact that it is considered illegal for the most part.
We that live it, know the difference it allows.

Carrying a cow with you to shoot milk at those who want to take it away would be a bit difficult.

The Amish around here use electricity and technology for their business but not their homes. The most common ones here are the ones with the black buggies(there are several different orders of Amish).

No Amish expert here, just live amongst them.

The amount of technology varies from one Amish community to the next. Just depends on how strict of a sect they belong to.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

well actually the pa dept of ag controls the raw milk safety stuff here is a useful link with info which may help to understand more why they went after him. http://www.das.psu.edu/pdf/rawmilkpacode62008.pdf

the
dept of ag here is actually controlling alot of things here they were not in control of before they control alot of things now that fish and wild life comission and game comission were takeing care of before and alot of other agencies. we have been wondering why the dept of age keeps getting control of things and alot of people do not know how much jurisdiction they r takeing over, it is really odd.

What a telling document. From page 1- Raw milk is not to be confused with milk "that is pasteurized and sold at the
grocery store or other locations as the product most of us think of as milk."

I couldn't have said it better- pasteurized milk is the "product most of us think of as milk."

Ask yourself this: who is the government protecting when they ban sales of raw milk? They know it may harm you. Fine. Stats show that pasteurized milk harms far more people. Alcohol kills tens of thousands each year. So do cigarettes. So does broccoli. Bagged baby carrots. The list goes on. So why are alcohol and cigarrettes still sold, just with warning labels? Why not allow the sale of real milk, just with a warning, if they want? Why a complete ban?

Follow the money...

see that's what i'm saying i don't understand it i agree i think they should stay out of it and leave the small farmers alone. i think it all boils down to politics and they want everything bought from stores(comercial farms) and control. that is not right we should have a choice in it, putting warning labels on it is fine but ultimately it should be our choice what is best for us. so ur saying from that link it is banned here?

u don't even want to know how the state has been cracking down on cigerettes here and our state parks, and the to many to list stuff. its really sad and even if it's not a federal law the town ordances will still get ya. it's bad here in pa and it is sad they should be going after criminals and people who r really the bad people not innocent famers and families trying to make an honest liveing and care for their families.

My mom came from old country(Europe) and tells how her mom would send her up to the neighbors to get the fresh cow or goat milk every few days. They grew up quite healthy. When I would visit family in the summers as a child I remember helping with the killing and processing of pigs and chickens. The pig processing was an all day even.It was kind of gross, but darnit if that wasn't the best food I have ever eaten.

I do not understand why raw milk is being treated like selling meth.People want the milk so why not? It is not as if they will infect neighbors.
