Feather Lovers Farm - Buyer Beware

......so far.... Nothing shipped.... :(

Argh! Maybe a blessing in disguise?! See if you can cancel the order and get the charges reversed?

I’m so thankful I got my chickens at the ranch now, they are all happy and healthy birds. I took my last three male chicks (just started crowing and we aren’t zone for roosters) back to the ranch today, and saw all 9 of my boys, still happy and healthy. Although we did have to fight off a hawk attack!

Oh shoot I don’t know about the Marek’s, these are my first chickens so I don’t have to worry about exposing any others. Okay so I have a question about the scissor beak... my little girl is pretty bad. She is a silkie and just shy of 6 weeks. She is half the size of her sisters... pretty much literally. I weighed one tonight that was over 7 oz and she’s only 3.5 oz. She is constantly eating because she can’t get much but I do feel food in her crop. I was just reading about how they are basically starving to death and it’s torture not to cull them. But then I read about culling and I wanted to throw up! I feel terrible if she’s starving to death but also I love her . Sorry for such a long post- hoping for some advice :). I’ll attach a photo of her.

Well, that's a cockerel, for one...
For two. There's lots of definitions to culling. Yes, you can put him down, but you can also find somebody who would be willing to help him eat and drink for the rest of his life. Removing him from your flock is also considered culling.
Personally, if it was me (and I know its not) I'd put him down. I had to recently put three of my flock down after a weasel attack that left them mutilated and gravely injured. Its hard, its emotional, but sometimes its for the best. And if you can't do it, the best case... maybe you can find somebody who will... or you can go to the vet and have them do it.

It’s a cockerel?! How do you know? Everyone says it’s close to impossible to know with silkies! Thank you for your advice... gotta just keep reminding myself this is nature and the circle of life. Certainly without human help this one would have starved to death on its own. But especially when giving them that extra love and he’ll you form a bond and now it will be even harder to put him down. Thanks again!

In April I ordered 6 serama and 2 silkies from feather lover farms. All male. So I then ordered 6 more for May delivery hoping to get some pullets. I added 3 Onagadori to the order also. The chicks were not shipped until July 10th- HOT HOT HOT. 2 chicks were dead on arrival. Now I have 4 more serama cockerels. This just can’t be bad luck. They did ship extra Onagadori to make up for the lat shipping and thank the lord their sexes are evenly split. Unfortunately nobody around her is interested in having a beautiful little serama cockerels for their own. Little buggers are the most oversexed birds I’ve ever had!

I can tell he’s a cockerel because he has a very wide comb for his age. Every once in a while you get an obvious one. If you decide to keep him and feed him, I wouldn’t let him breed. He could pass it on to his offspring.

I ordered 12 black copper marans on 29 Nov and needed
to cancel the order which I did within 30 min .
4 days later no response ( of course holiday time ) but tried several times later . After reading reviews from others so many have the same experience . I even contacted my Visa and they can go only by what vender has in terms/conditions . SO READ carefully when buying . FLF states they will only give 1/2 back for refund if you cancel anytime . Only time they give you Full refund is if they do NOT ship in the promised month chosen.

They did end up shipping me birds.. they came late but did come. I'm disappointed because they knew I wanted one color for breeding and made sure to give me every color and only one sex of each. I've never had Onagadori before but they at least look like Phoenix so they will be *some* sort of longtail. I am just leery of these folks... GL, banran00!

do not purchase chickens from Feather Lovers Farm. Seven weeks ago I purchased 4 one day old Isbar Chicks, and stated I was in CT and if they couldn’t fulfill the order I’d wait till the Soring. They responded that they were preparing the order for shipment. Nothing received, and silence. Then they said they’d ship the chicks 9/25 or 10/2. Nothing shipped. I wrote again saying it’d too cold in CT for the chicks to survive our winter, and again requested a refund. They said they’d ship them 10/9. They are silent again and didn’t ship to me. I will follow up with the necessary agencies, but in the meantime do not buy chicks from Feather Lovers Farm. They are frauds.
my experience was alright but not perfect. Ordered some silkies from them. Took 2 days to arrive once shipped. But I felt like they should give the option for overnight shipping but they only have one option for 1-3 day shipping.
All but one was in perfect health! One had it’s eyes glued open so I’ve been treating it 2-3 times daily with water, Manuka honey and water, and coconut oil. It’s doing much better.
all the chicks are beautiful! But it’s a stressful hassle to treat the one chick.
also, 2 developed pasty butt but that was an easy treatment and they’re fine now.
