It is sad to have a terrible hatch
.My first 2 hatches ever i didnt get ONE chick and so naiive didnt realize that its a gamble and may happen.
I was in total disbelief the first time. Babied those eggs for 3 weeks in that room every hour for 3 weeks and nothing.

Messed up chicks and no chicks happen.
I had one just died a month ago had a bad leg and hip died after 6 months old. in a box alone just couldnt cull...but what a sad life.
Now have another At first could walk thought it would improve leaned a lot on things but walked...but now about 5 weeks old doesnt try!! SITS
Another box baby but in with a healthy sib not alone .

Puts a bad taste in your mouth for sure though . But the good hatches are a miracle and a joy.

I have heard that Seramas are very hard to hatch.
I just had 8 Serama eggs and only one was almost to lock down then it went bad too. Oh well.I didnt expect much with them at all anyway

.Right now i am waiting for my Lav AMs and its day 21...The bator went cold unplugged one day for at least 2 hours i am hoping they will just hatch late.but not holding my breath on that either so will be very excited if i get any.
Sorry to all who had messed up chicks or bad hatches. Goods ones will come.... Just keep trying!

I want to see those Lav Ams hatch so bad!! Thank you for sharing. I guess I was just naive too. I seen them growing and moving and shaking in the shells...I just thought at least 20 would hatch out. So when it was 8 and half of them had to be helped, and ALL of them were a concrete gel mess....yeah...not what I expected. Thanks for your love and support though, as I said before....only you all understand WHY this is so devastating, and WHY this is so hard and sad. And I thank God I had you all here then and in the future!

Grape. One of my babies looked like that too when she came out. Like the lining was all over her like glue. I washed her in warm water and now she is almost three weeks old. I say it is ok to wash just keep beak out of water when washing or use warm wash rags.

Yeah, I know now that once the first one hatches, that the humidity is more stable and I may have a chance to grab and wipe before it hardens, the the hard stuff was dang near impossible to get off!

Good morning! I was relieved to wake up to everyone doing well in the brooder, and a new pip in the incubator. My wonky-air-cell-chick that I had to help out of his shell over the past two days made it through the night and is still lagging behind the others but is alert and walking around a bit. So, there's hope for it!

YAY!! I hope the little lagger get on board! My little one is somehow STILL clinging to life in the incubator. I dont know what I will do if she doesnt make progress today. I need to get that incubator cleaned and ready to set tomorrow!!! Ugh!!

I'm gonna wait a little while before I hatch anymore, I don't have the space for more chicks right now, but I will be checking in on the March thread to see how everyone is doing. If not I would miss everyone!!!!!! Lots of hugs and prayers going your way gapeach!!!!!

I was asleep by 10 (still early for me) and up at 6:30....I could have used a few more hours but feel a lot better this morning. Now to get my room back in order for next friday!!

I have spent all morning trying to catch up!!! I had a really busy day yesterday! Went to the eye dr and got glasses. And lots of other stuff I needed to do! But here I am LOL!!!! Gapeach I am glad that you got some rest You needed it badly!

I wouldve been like all of yall , not getting any sleep, but I have been battling a sinus infection so I have been extra tired! And yes you did beat me on pipping! I was so shocked at how my hatch turned out! I didn't even expect half of them to hatch!!!!! I still have one egg that hasn't done anything! And my bator is starting to smell like what you described. I had one that the air sac was on the side, and I think that the egg that is left is that one, I will find out for sure when I candle it in my really dark bathroom! But here are some pics of my new fuzzie butts!!!!!!

I just candled and smelled the egg, the egg didn't stink, I think the smell is from my babies pooping in the bator after hatch. But I did put it in a plastic bag so I can dispose of it!!!!!
