FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Just put some eggs in lock down:

2/3 Tolbunts
4/5 BBS Marans
and 6/7 of my girls (Blue & Barred Rocks) very first eggs!!!

I candled right before and all eggs had wiggly chicks in them!!!

Candled my eggs tonight, and of 10, I have 8 that are going strong, moving, growing, bouncing around in there. One that was doing well on day 4 has what looks like a blood ring, but I'll leave it for a couple days to see if it is truly quit. 8 of 10 would be nice.My girls seem to be on strike right now...neither Serama is laying, and the little OEGB pullet laid one tiny egg, then nothing... hopefully they'll all get back into the swing of things once the weather really stays warmer here. :/ Bad girls. GIMMEE EGGS! :p

Hatch did not do well.
Out of 19 eggs set 12 hatched. Out of the twelve only six are left alive. The other 6 were not doing to well so I had to put them down.

tomorrow is hatch day for my 3 isbars. out of 7 shipped, that's all I got developed. This is my 2nd time trying to hatch isbars- last time 10 eggs- none developed past day 10...

I've been so stressed the past 2 wks w/ bad hatches that now my face has broken out! Can you believe it? Have not had a blemish on my face for over 20 yrs, I try to hatch some eggs & I'm falling apart

I was pretty depressed when I woke up this morning to find not only little Lila (the chick in the chair) but also all 4 of the lav orp chicks who hatched last night dead. 2 of them never did push out of the shell. Geez I am telling ya'll this is NOT going well for me at all! I still have my little silkie Peeps, she is doing wonderful! I guess DH was feeling bad for me so he went to town, came back with 4 little fuzzy butts! 1 blk silkie, 1 partridge silkie and 2 Porcelain chicks! They are really cute, look healthy & best of all Sugar Peeps is no longer lonely

I put in my 3 Isbars in lockdown this afternoon- I sure hope they do better than the others... I'm about to decide to just buy chicks, wait till they lay & hatch my own eggs rather that keep buying eggs. I have spent a fortune over the past 2 months on eggs, all I have to show so for is Sugar Peeps...

So sorry to hear about your little chickie-doodles! Poor little Sugar Peeps. What a wonderful hubby you have to get her & you new little fluffy butts to help fill the void. Good man!

We unfortunately ended up sending Chickie #1 "Blue" (the one with the really bad tendon issue in the chick highchair) to the big coop in the sky. She just wasn't going to get any better and we couldn't prolong her pain any longer. It would have been cruel. Our other chickie #2 "Georgie", that's also in the chair, is still there... but it's obvious she's depressed. She just lays her head down and lightly chirps the whole time. I feel so bad for her. She just wants out of the chair. If we pet her, rub her back & "flippers" or offer her treats it seems to help perk her up. Her leg issue wasn't anywhere near as bad, so I still have a little hope. I don't think she's hurting at all, aside from the horrible chair, and hopefully she will recover enough & still be able to learn how to walk properly once she's out of it. I don't think I'll be doing the leg/chair thing with future little chickies (hopefully I'd never need to). I'm debating if the chair itself is too cruel for such cutie little puff balls. If it works, great, but I know the odds are quite against it & might just be making her miserable in the mean time. Anyways - our little runt chick is doing really good as well. She's walking, drinking, eating, & pecking at random stuff. Just today I upgraded her bandaid hobble to a thin rubber band that allows more movement & stretching. She picks at it a bit, but is able to keep her bad leg under her still with such little restriction. I'll probably take it off completely in another day or two. She such a little fighter. Her head only comes as high as the other chicks back. Such a tiny peanut.

Good luck with your Isbars! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

I have a dozen store-bought fertile eggs that are on day 7 today.... Will be candeling them tonight & crossing fingers that I see something in at least one egg!
Unfortunately, no development in any of the eggs. I cracked about half of them open (all the ones that I thought I might have seen some veins in) - nothing but yoke. This means that they were probably not fertile, correct?

On a better note, I just put 17 Black and Blue Copper eggs in the incubator! Crossing fingers for a good hatch on these guys :)

That's too bad they never started. You're right, they probably weren't fertile... or maybe the timing was just too long from hen to store to your incubator.

That is awesome about the Black and Blue Coppers! I hope you have a great hatch with them. I would love to do Maran's next... but after my next batch of silkies come out, I'll probably do a "barnyard mix" of Americaunas, Brahma, and Barred Rocks. DH wants to mix it up a bit. LOL.

Good luck to all the hatches due today!!!

I am STOKED! I have my LG completely steady with temps and humidity now for 2 days!! I am hoping to get all my eggs earlier than expected and thinking I may have them in by Thursday the latest. I am most worried about the Sizzle eggs coming from WA to GA, but keeping my fingers crossed!! I wish I could remember how to post a pic. I followed a few things I seen on LG modifications I seen on some posts here and I am VERY pleased with my setup and READY!!
