Any action going on w/ your hens choice eggos?

Well... I'm back for my updates and chickie-doodle fix.  Love all the pictures.

My teenage son had his last bowling meet this morning.  They took 2013 season champions!  :)  Going to regional next weekend!  Ok, proud momma...

On to the "momma hen" part of me.  I am going to be IN TROUBLE!  DH, the kids, & I just stopped at our local farm store & found out they're getting their chicks in on Wednesday!!!  EEK!  DH says we should limit it to only 4 new ones... but I already have 6 picked out in my head and I haven't even seen them yet!   I have a Lt. Brahma rooster but no lt.brahma hens!  So I have 2 light brahma pullets on my mental list, 1 isa brown, 1 leghorn, 1 americauna, and 1 amber link.  The amber link are new for them this year, so I figured I would try them.  We'll be retiring our isa brown and leghorn this fall, and they're really good egg layers, so I wanted to replace them.  How can I limit this down to only 4 chicks?  I don't think it's possible!  Anybody see a way?  No, I couldn't find one either.  LOL.

Good thing DH doesn't know my spring hatching plan yet or he'd never cave on the 6 chicks.  I'd love to get some eggs from a few select BYC members.  I'd like BCM eggs, and really good white silkie eggs (to increase the beauty and bloodline of the silkies we already have).

DH did agree to hatch out some duck eggs already though... Yahoo.  Not sure where we're going to put ducks yet.  ...or the turkeys, or the meat chickens... or the... ...you get the idea.  :)
You crack me up. I think the same way. But I just get what I want then tell him how much I love him and bat my eyes. He always caves in. Lol. So just get them he won't be mad for long. Lol good luck

So, update:
I have 5 chicks that hatched! So far there is 1 buff, 1 splash, 1 partridge, and 2 lavenders! Except both of the lavenders hatched out really dark, so I'm thinking they might not be lavender. Karen did warn me on that.
6 pips beside that! And 8 inactive. But who knows, they might just be running late!
I will try and post pictures later, but for now I'm going back up to my incubator :)

Sorry only a few are developing from the shipped eggs - You have a lot of self control not to candle till day 17!!!

I would def get a hydrometer soon. You wont be able to calculate the humidity going by the temp. What kind of bator do you have? I am using the hova bator 1602N & if I just the #1 troth it pretty much levels out around 50% (house is about 30-40%) you can also go by the air sacks when you candle & compare to photos online - if the air sacks are pretty much the same then it's good if not then add more water.

I just got my quail a couple weeks ago. But sure why not I have 3 laying hens right now - how many eggs were you looking for?

Aww yay 7/7 of cuties! When are they do to crack out For colors my hens are more so btw & 3 roos mostly white & a blck n white roo
I have to take some new photos of my jbs. lol To the left is my black & white roo & to the far right is one of the hens(all 4 pretty much look a like except dif leg lengths & 2 have a little bit of a yellow hue to sum feathers. I have a btw roo & then 2 roos that have some other coloring - one w/ goldish white feathers w/ dark dots @ the tips of the neck feathers. I think they are just from blended parents - the man kept different colors in the same pen. They are very adorable tho- so the babies will be a surprise that I can't wait for!!!
My JB are due to hatch feb 25th and again on march 6th. I have a staggered hatch going. Im also going to be setting more eggs for the easter hatch along
