FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

My clutch of sussex were due to start on tues. I had only two pip yesterday, one expired soon after emerging. There's been no progress today. Should I remain hopeful for the other four eggs?
Many thanks for any advice.

Awwee sorry to hear that. I would leave them in a few more days. They arent late yet and some do come early at times.
Some ppl have had one hatch even a couple days late. or one hatch at almost midnight on the hatch day.I had one myself not long ago do that. You just never know. GOOD LUCK!!

My humidity got real low <50% and i added water and now it 70%....am I killing them????
If its the last 4 days you are ok.
70 is about right 65-70 If its before day 18 bring it down to 35-45 if possible
.A short period of it high I dont think will hurt anyway SHORT and if it is too high a while , then make it a little low so the air cell can dry up and grow bigger to as it should be. 30-35 is ok for day 1-18
Good Luck!! If mine gets real high i just open the lid for a little then cover the bottom somewhat with a dry rag or tin foil so the humidity goes down.
Mine just went to 88!! In lock no pips i opened the lid went to 70 after i took the 3rd wet rag out...TOO much

I have been battling with the humidity the whole time day 15 right now. It does down to 20% then in the morning I bring it back up to the 40s should I keep doing this or let it be? There is a sponge in there.
Keep doing it .thats what i do and mine goes down like that too all the time.you want the air cell to be not too big or too small. so i think if you got really low then to 40 will sort of balance it the main idea for hatch a perfect size air cell to pip into.

OK Rox- you sound as bad as me missing that I had 1 lav orp chick that was smaller than the others so I just stuck it outside w/ the others & nearly killed it! We have too many eggs/chicks - well wait, we can never have too many- we just need to get it together

Whoopee, first hatch of the year for us. My broody BCM hen has gone from 3 eggs to three peeps in her nest box. I have never hatched under a hen before and I am just thrilled. I would like to transfer them to a brooder and give her more eggs. My question is: What is the chance she will set another week on some eggs I have in the bator if I give them to her? She did continue to get up and eat, drink, and eliminate, out of the nest every day, so she is in good body condition. I am concerned about leaving the peeps in the hen house without additional heat, but at the same time I hate to take her peeps away from her. I am in New Mexico and it is still very cold here. Any experiences/advice is appreciated. Thank you.
Wish i had some advice...sorry! Yeah cold i dont know they could die if shes gone too long and if you took them probably would stay on the nest but i am just guessing. Any way you can bring her inside to heat with the babies and then sneak some other eggs under her inside?

I know the peeps can go at least 24 hours without needing to eat. Mom is keeping them tucked in under her wings, and I have a red heat lamp in her hen house. Tomorrow I will see if she will take the eggs in exchange for her peeps. I am home tomorrow so I can watch her closely. Otherwise I will have her rejoin the flock. We'll see how it goes.
thanks for the input.

Hi there Cynthia

I have a couple that are colored like that and two that are bleach blondes and then the grays, all with little sideburns
These were extra spot holders in the brinsea and there were no Ameraucanas in this little batch. Got another cacking through it's shell. If you have 3 already, your doing great and understand what happened for my new years hatch.
Sounds like a good start
