FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Big end is always up!!! Once you put them in the incubator tomorrow do not start turning them for 5-7 days. Just let them start cooking without moving. Serama eggs are more fragile than normal eggs and this seems to help them get a better start.

Is it okay if I lay them on their side for this? That's the only way I can hatch all 12...

Mine are doing the same thing!!! LOL! But I don't want to open the incubator for fear of shrink wrapping the other 6 that are pipped!
the other prob I had was I use my brinsea mini advance for lockdown/hatch- I had 9 lg eggs in there, no room for them to move- so in the climbing around, the chick was like rolling them all! after the first 3 hatched & were removed they then had enough room. good thing is the brinsea seems to hold the temp/humidity very well, plus I do run my humidity higher than most for my hatches. I don't really recommend doing this, it's just what happened for me

you can- but it would be best for the eggs if the first 5-7 days to let them be pointed end down since they are shipped eggs. It helps the air cell to settle- but if that is the only way you can do it, you just have to. I still would not turn them for 5-7 days tho

Yes, I have a BMA (I think I just made this up - Brinsea Mini Advance) so there's no way for them to sit like that in there. I'll just lay them down and not turn them for the first 5-7 days.

think Brook meant they need to be standing up so the big ends up so the air cells can settle where they need to be .Laying down wont let them do that. BUT you have to do what you have to do Any way you can lean them together so the big end is up sort of ?
LIke a rag under the big end so the big end is up even sort of laying down ?Just trying to come up with a good idea.

That might work. I'll give it a try tomorrow when I set them.

hey that's good! yep, that's what you do. I have one too, but then I got a larger bator after, so now I use lg bator for 1-18 days, then BMA
