February 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Day 7 candling results:

55 Flowery- 3/4 infertile, 1/4 developing with saddle air sac.
Swedish Flower- 1/3 detached air sac/scrambled, 2/3 developing.
Isbar- 3/3 developing (damn, those are really hard to candle, even with 1300 lumens!)
Hedamora- 2/2 developing.

So, 8/12 developing. Some of these birds will be my child’s 4H project. She spotted the 55 embryo boogying around and was so excited. :wee

I have 18 eggs at day 11 now. I lost one this morning that wasn't developed at all since I put it in. As I was candling my little sister came bursting in and brushed past one of the eggs which rolled a little before I could catch it . It cracked a tiny bit. 😭🙄 You'd hardly notice. Can it still hatch?
Apply liquid bandage on the crack, available at most pharmacies/drug stores.🙂
Some people also use nail polish or wax, but I prefer the liquid bandage.

Chick #1 is out! I can hear that the second one is internally pipped; hopefully it will make an appearance this evening.

Well been hearing power is out in our area from yesterday morning and won’t be restored till around 4 pm this afternoon. Feeling fortunate to be on solar power. Hopefully our internet comes back then though, meant be having a video interview for a job tomorrow morning! Got one bar of cellphone signal which drops in and out lol but at least my eggs and chicks are safe ❤️

Do you have any liquid bandage that you can put just on the crack?
