Day 14 candle revealed 2 more quitters 🤦‍♀️ but I still have 9/15 the 2 with saddled air cells were puttin on a show last night. How far down should I cut the carton before hatch?

I cut cartons down significantly so there’s just basically a skeleton left to support the egg. That way I can see all around if the egg pips in an unusual place and the carton does not occlude the PIP.😊

I've got 11/22 in the incubator. After candling again last night, I'm pretty sure there are 3 quitters in there. So I'll give them until tomorrow, then make the final call. That will be it before lockdown on Friday.
I am really happy that my 2 F1 olive egger eggs made it past this point, they look really good. These are from my birds that I hatched from my own flock last year. Although I was planning to sell this whole batch, I am tempted to hang on to these 2 for no other reason just to see how they turn out as adults, lol.

Hard not to keep any!😊

I’ve had this incubator (Janoel 12) for about 5 years now. Until this year, the only hatch I’ve had with a less than 90% hatch rate was a batch of shipped eggs that my post office “lost” for a week. This year, I’ve had 1/9, 2/6, and 1/6 hatches from two sets of eggs from my flock and one set of shipped eggs. I’m fairly confident this cheap incubator has outlived its usefulness at this point.
It very well could be. I think those are not meant to be used for more than a few years,
