Today is day 5 for me. My temps have been really consistent.
I just candled my 8 mixed eggs. 4 are alive, 2 not sure & two definately a no go.
I cracked the two open to see what's up. One was not fertilized and the other looked like a blood ring, I guess.

I'm very excited that this cooler incubator is actually working. WHOA!!!

Tomorrow is lockdown for my 10 Silkied Ameracaunas, and 7 Wheaton Marans; due to hatch on Wednesday.

I incubate in a Sportsman (with humidity at 35%), and transfer them into a HovaBator (with humidity at 60 - 65%) for lockdown and hatch. I have hatch due dates of: Feb 4, 6, 12, 13. I sure hope all goes well!

After 7 days I candled my eggs out of 8 looks like 7 are growing! WOO HOO! Hurry up day 21.lol

I may be getting obsessed. I have 3 silkies due the 9th, 29 silkies due the 11th, 2 silkes and 2 ? sue the 15th, and 3 silkies due the 20th. I really need to turn off my bator..lol That is ontop of the 17 I hatched this month.

Day 19

Moved 6 light Brahma/Barred Rocks & 2 Pure Light Brahma to the hatcher this morning. Hatch date Feb 3rd. Due to the last hatch Failing badly, upped Humidity to 70-74% Temp 101. Hatcher is still air (may have to get a fan for it).


still have 7 mystery eggs in the incubator (hatch Date Feb 16th). Humidity increased to 45-55% and Temp to steady 99-100F.



If this doesnt work I have no clue what to try next.

Good luck to you. Hope this one goes better. I'm sitting here going nuts waiting for pips. So far...notta. I don't want to get involved but it's day 22 and after reading the posts about tough maran shells....

I'm going to wait a few days, get new batteries for the maglite and try again for a candling. Right now I'm still not overly sure i'll end up with little ones. I'll keep trying though! My roo better get his fuzzy little bum in gear and get after those hens

I put 30 Black Australorp eggs and 8 ameraucana eggs in1 of the incubators on
Friday 1/29/10.
On Friday 2/5/10 I am putting 2-3 dozen ameraucan eggs and 70+ copper
maran eggs in one of the other incubators if all goes as planned. (Wanting to put a total
of at least 100 in if not more.)
