I forgot to mention that I can see that a couple of the eggs are moving.

I am getting excited...lol.

I think my broody is all done. We've got three hatched, 1 egg left but I don't have high hopes on it. Last tuesday my hen splattered her liquid poo right on top of the poor thing

. I rinsed it off no wanting it to get bacteria in it or seal over the eggs "ventalation" and think maybe I did it in. Not that I can be mad at the broody... after all she's not even a year old herself yet, so I think she's done quite well concidering.

You can tell "if the roos are doing their job" without hatching eggs; just look inside at the yolks for the "bullseye"!

I have done that, it was sort of a rhetorical comment. For the first couple of weeks they were not but the ones I've gotten lately have been.

CHEEP HEEP CHEEP we have cheeping going on inside the incubator woot! I seriously hope when I get home in the morning there is a chick or at least when I wake up tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for starting a Feb hatch thread!
set 1/31, due to hatch 2/20
Having trouble not candling right now! Two more days... then I get to see if anything shows through the dark shells.. the Penes are super dark!
One egg developed hairline crack on day 1, leaked on and stuck

to two others & pulled off a tiny piece of shell from itself and one other. Membranes were intact. I couldn't toss 'em

so patched both with Tegaderm IV dressing, just a thin strip. So far so good.
Go chickies!!!
(I think the cracked egg was on the side of the box that was pushed in about an inch, like they dropped it or jammed it between other boxes-clearly marked fragile

So exciting seeing all the great pics and reading the stories about the babies! I'm prematurely joining the thread, as I've got an LG bator supposed to arrive tomorrow, and 6+ BO eggs being shipped tomorrow from greenfamilyfarms (Thanks, Kandace) ! It's going to be interesting...but I'll post pics when things get going.
I'm still flummoxed as to why I've not had any eggs from my hens yet. It seems like everyone else in my area has their hens laying again. I figure that it's too cold out...or they don't like the nest box....so I added some hay to the nest box with a plastic egg nestled in the back. Hopefully, we can get things moving!
Oh well....guess all I can do for now is live vicariously through the thread! *clicking "Subscribe to this Topic" button*
