FEBRUARY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

It's "lockdown" time again today for a Feb 16th hatch date. This tray includes a divider that I added (made from craft plastic canvas & attached with twist ties) to be able to mark the chick that hatches from the tinted/lt brown egg from my favorite hen, a Bantam Faverolles, that I wish to "prove." The rest of the green/blue eggs are Bantam Ameraucana/Faverolles & they look exactly the same as the Blue Salmon Faverolles chicks, except for later when their comb develops. This will be the first hatch of my own eggs, from my own coop. Am using the "dry incubation" method. Wish me luck!

Hatch Date was supposed to be the 16th.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah....Came home from dinner to my #4 egg pipped, I can't believe it!!!!! After doing the happy dance with my 2 and 4 year old, I tried to settle down and read them a story, only made it about 7 min into the book and had to run back to check only to find ANOTHER pip in the #2 egg AND we could hear peeping!!!!! This is so exciting, I can't contain myself, you should see the smile on my face right now. After about 2 more hours now my #7 egg (pure RIR) is starting...it's like popcorn in my incubator right now, guess 23 is my lucky number, hahaha. I really just had the worst feeling that nothing was ever going to happen, but with tons of patients we're starting on day 23.

Day 20 AM report

1 Light Brahma out, 1 piped ( I can see the piped one moving)
2 light Brahma/EE not doing much (green eggs have also been moved by LB1)
1 Light Brahma/NH getting kicked around by LB1...

The LB that is out is playing move everything, he runs them over rolling them (the other eggs)across the incubator, he has also moved temp & hygrometers so I have a hard time reading them.

I have 4 out and running around the bator, no pips inthe other 4 eggs. I am thinking if no pips show up by this afternoon, I will remove the chicks, and wait another couple days for the others.

Feedback... good idea or not?

Well, I pipped the remaining 2 that were on day 23 only to find primordial goo under the air sac, alas... 2 of 4 is all that I got, but the 2 are happy and healthy and running amuck.. sooo I have cleaned and reset the bator... who's up for starting a March hatch-a-long??? LOL. The hatching addiction has begun (plus I have a broody sitting on 4).
