just got my 50 japanese quail eggs today. i am using an incubator with force air and auto turner. expect those eggs to hatch on feb 25, so much anxiety. will they hatch? !!!!

I still have just 1 chick out. 3 others pipped this morning and so far seem content resting in their shell lol. One more just pipped about a 1/2 hour ago, and at least 1 more is shaking that hasn't pipped. (out of 15)
Day 22 has officially begun....

Grats to all the new chick hatchers. Looks like this group is getting some really good hatches!
I'm on day 19 and I remember now what this waiting is like...
Time to start compulsively cleaning...
Maybe I will go and look one more time...

the first chick hatched around noon today, so theoretically, if I'm still waiting, I have until noon Thursday to let others try and hatch before removing the first chicks, yes? This is really exciting, and my son is simply amazed at it all

I want to add, it sure is a heck of a lot easier to go to my local feed store and buy chicks, but this has been an extremely rewarding effort for us, and I'm sure we'll be doing it again soon! After all, my Sumatra hens' eggs are all fertile, and Heaven knows, we need to propogate the breed

We went into this effort with near zero expectations (a philosophy of mine), so thus far, the result is very pleasing
