FEBRUARY Hatch-A-Long, come join in!!

I bought 2 dozen bantam Ameraucana eggs to put in my Brinsea that is rated for 24 chicken eggs. The seller, bless her heart, sent ten extra eggs. I managed to squeeze every one of those eggs in that little incubator yesterday (Feb 17) and they're merrily "cookin'" away. Of course, so much for my plan to put in an Orpington egg or 2 into the hatch.

3rd one out...he/she is very strong and popped out quickly. BUt...

it can't starighten its neck. The 1st two are just fine. What's wrong???

edit: False alarm! That chick is just fine now. I guess he was still feeling a bit cramped.

The other Silkie egg has pipped as well. The cochin, BO, and BCM I assume will take longer?

3 chicks out, 1 egg pipped and I can hear chirping in the other 2 that are under my broody.

These little ones are taking their sweet time getting here. I didn't write down when I put the eggs under the broody, but in my mind I thought they were supposed to hatch on Wednesday. This is driving me crazy!!!!

Of six eggs (five Delawares and one Del/Lt Brahma cross), four Dels are hatched, one pipped and the crossbreed chick expired. The Del/Lt. Brahma was in shell, dead, in position, no idea why it died without pipping when the others hatched fine. Today is Day 22 and it's unusual for me to still have alive, unhatched chicks at the end of Day 22. No idea why unless there was a cooler spot in the bator.

The next batch of BBS Orps and one Delaware are on Day 7 tomorrow, but it's possible that none of the Orps are developing--I did candle, but can't see at all into a few due to the striations, etc., on the shell itself. The only actual veining I saw was on the Delaware eggs. If not, guess I'll have to decide that Suede is infertile now.

Dampen the membrane and other stuff with warm water then you can pick the stuff off the chick.

I let him rest and dry for a bit, then I soaked the membrane and took it off quite easily. S/he is almost dry and read to join their siblings! I can't believe I got 6/8!

I have 2 dozen Copper Maran eggs, 1 dozen Red Blue Laced Wyandotte eggs and 5 polish eggs that are due to hatch on the 26th. This is the first time I've incubated eggs, so wish me luck!
