Well, crud, just recandled the BBS Orps, and I guess it's official--Suede has lost fertility. Now, what to do with a single Delaware egg in the bator?

I'm really excited about the Marans- One dozen from Bev Davis lines and the other from Wade Jean. I am having such a hard time trying to candle the Maran eggs. I hope they hatch!

One out a black one,one zipped and died,3 more died in the eggs one died about day 18 or less and the last one is working its way out.
The porous eggs was a yellow/buff looking chick.
Its amazing how one incubator/hatcher can have such diffrent hatches.
I am hooking up my brower top hatch today it came yesterday.

Here are some pick sof my fluffy FBCMs.

And a video of one in the final stage of hatching. (Click the image.)

I am going to transfer my remaining eggs to a friend's bator. The hatching bug did NOT catch me. I love these little guys, and it was the only way to get the Marans I wanted, but I just can't do this again. At least not with the incubators I had. Nightmare.

The hatch is finally over. Five out of five Delawares hatched, but the Del/Lt. Brahma died in shell without pipping.

The last chick to hatch is still in the bator. It was hatched with a hugely open navel and innards partially out. It was clicking when it breathed so I think fluid was inhaled and we left it in the bator because we thought it was dying. Well, guess what? This morning, it's running around the bator and the navel is almost all the way closed and drying out! Classic example of giving a chick 24 hours before culling. Heck, once DH and I pushed innards back inside, and I mean the intestines not the yolk sac, and I superglued the edges. That chick went on to be a great looking Delaware rooster.

Done with my February hatches at last. Congrats to all of you and your new babies!
