Anybody planning a hatch in February? I am hoping too, but don't have any dates set for certain yet.

Hoping to see some cute chicks! :pop
Hoping for my new yard ornaments to proclaim SPRING with a Ground Hogs Day hatch! I think i could have up to 10 breeds - mostly Greenfire Line purebreds shipped to me from FoxfirefarmsLLC in N Idaho. Getting excited - tho Shipped egg rate fail stories freak me out! ! couldn't resist her Jan Purebred Potluck special tho!

Mine was from Fox fire today!

As far as the failure rate, I think it is all up to your own style of incubation and quality of your incubator. That is all you can control. What happened during shipping is beyond our control.

Let's mindset it so we think any eggs not hatched were roosters anyhow.

My eggs went in incubator after 12 hrs rest room temp- here's my thoughts it on that...They were mailed at about 4:30 pm on Wed. I got them at 8:00 am next day. So they were not on the road for long. Only one had loose air cell. All eggs are up right in hatching cups that will be still for 3 days.

And again they will stay still for the first few days.

That's exciting. I'm thinking about doing the same, waiting 12hrs then in the incubator they go for the first three days. I would usually wait 24hrs but I know that for each day they go, the viability goes down.

On another note, does anybody know what I can put on the chicks legs after they hatch (like a band)? What do people normally use? I bought a little bag of tiny colorful zip ties.
