February Hatch-A-Long

Btw I'm loving my winter chick hatch, there developing so well and a surprise. There about a month old and some are developing a nice head crest which I wasn't expecting. Even my experimental GL Wyandotte cross has a crest. Hoping they all turn out to be pullets.

Would love to see photos! Where are they getting their crests from?
I have three hybrids left from my December hatches that are now five and eight weeks old and they all have crests from their silkie father.

I have candled on day 5 before, and then on day 7 and was so glad to have waited to day 7 before removing eggs!

Of course! These are mixed breeds from my house chickens. Roo is half RIR bantam/half golden sebright. Hens are 1 golden sebright, 1 partridge silkie, and 1 light partridge silkie.

Yes he's a SFH, he has a mini crest all the hens don't have this trait.
I'm surprised the genetics didn't split 50/50. The baby has the SFH iris color and color pattern and kept the GLW rosecomb.
