It is like waiting for Christmas to come!Out of 20 fertile eggs, 19 made it to lockdown! These three days are the longest!
arranging a rope around eggs at lockdown can help reduce rollovers from lively hachlings. Here is an example - similar to what I am currently doing.
I like these videos, I could watch them all day. Hopefully someone has an answer to the malformed beakWe have moved our camera to the brooder for more action. There are three babies in the incubator still, two are drying off after a bath and the third is on the half shell pipped but got no further because of it's size so I opened the end of the egg up and am letting it absorb before I help it any further. I opened the other 4 eggs one was a huge chick that never turned. One malposition that pipped through the vein. There was a huge bruise color on the egg shell. Two quit day 10-15 I didn't catch them cause I didn't candle day 18,. Last one was born with a malformed beak, Had a normal bottom beak the top one looked almost wrinkled and the tip of it was missing. What would cause that for those who have ben incubating longer than me? This is my first deformity and want to make sure that I don't end up with more. Could it be the temp outside when they were laid? Brooder cam can be found here:

Anybody planning a hatch in February? I am hoping too, but don't have any dates set for certain yet.
Hoping to see some cute chicks!
Were these hatched from your eggs or shipped. I have 2 theories, others may have ideas too. 1. Breeding birds may be closely related 2. The eggs didn't get turned before incubating and the yolk stuck to one side so the embryo early on didn't develop correctly. We have moved our camera to the brooder for more action.
