February Hatch-A-Long

I have hatched out eggs that were clear on the pointed end (day 16) before, it took until day 23 to hatch.

If I recall correctly you and I have some on the same schedule right? day 21 will be Friday night for me. so i'll prolly run till Tuesday I think. gotta build my brooder tonight. hahah

Day 21 starts Thursday evening, but I am expecting to be complete Friday evening-or Sat. AM

I have a cardboard box and a stick across to hold the tied down lamp. It will not go anywhere- I have no kids or animals to bother with it. (Brooder)

Day 18/19. 19 this evening. I am going to go ski so I keep myself busy.

Just had to open up an internally pipped egg that was no longer moving or peeping. It was doing both of those thing earlier today. Was wondering why it had not pipped yet, though it has not been 24 hours, 8 or 9 at most. Pulled it out of the incubator, listened, no peep. Made a small hole and could see the chick was fully formed, but quite dead. No blood vessels, it was so ready to come out, but for some reason never externally pipped. It did appear to be malpositioned. Darn these tiny eggs! I wish I had intervened sooner, but normally won't until it has been 24 hours. So sad

Just turned day 19 this evening. I hear my first peep-er! No pips, so it must be an internal pip.

I took a pic, I believe it may be the olandsk dwarf...

Tan egg in the center with red x. 16 still at lockdown.

My from-the-fridge trio are still kicking around in their eggs. Lockdown on Sunday and hatch day likely on Tues (23rd).


With last week's batch, only two survived their first full week. Haven't gotten newer pics with just them yet though.
