That's where I'm getting my hatching eggs from! I love hatching welsummers because i can sex them. Well at least 90% sex them. I couldn't get them shipped til next month, I'm so jealous of you :tongue
Well don't be so jealous yet! Just got a call from Meyer that they may not be shipping out due to the weather. I will know tomorrow. I ordered 2 jubilee orpingtons pullets for myself. Added the other chicks to spread out the $75 shipping fee (express to Hawaii). They won't have more of the Jubilees until OCTOBER!🙁

I still plan on a lock down tomorrow. (day 18 today and tomorrow. ) I heated up the rope cord in a diff incubator, then put it in the incubator my sixteen shipped eggs are in (so they don't roll around at hatching). Below is eggs on rope. the eggs in resting cups (not turner) are due next week. View attachment 2530955I marked the area most likely to pip from, slope, and they are large air cell up. They will stay this way until they hatch.View attachment 2530956

The eggs that didn't have a steep air cell slope, I still have in the resting cups. I will check on those tomorrow. If I don't see them develop a steep slope They will stay in a resting cup till hatch so they do not drown.

I am going to add some water at lockdown, but am not going to freak out about the humidity. Once they start to hatch (When they need the humidity) they will also create more themselves.
I mark an X, too when I set for lockdown. Sometimes the chicks actually hit the mark when they pip, as if they are aiming for it, X marks the spot!🤣

They're beautiful! Congratulations!

Are the remaining eggs DIS? That's sad but 3 is fantastic!!!

I have one more working on it - might have to assist, but I won't do anything until it has been pipped for 24hrs. S/he is quite the slow poke. The remaining two didn't make it, but I'm thrilled with what I got :)

My air cells are always super small in comparison to most diagrams until the day they internally pip - I have never had a problem with them hatching (aside from this time's incubator mishap). I was often worried about size, but now I'm no longer concerned as long as they're progressing.

Day 13 with NR360. Just lost power from ice storm. How long and low should I let temp go down? I believe the inverter in my truck will power it but wanted to wait until absolutely necessary.
