Eek!! My first chick of my first incubator hatch-a-long has finally pipped! What an exciting feeling! I wish I could stay home all day and watch it! Another one sounds like it's about to start! It's Day 21/22 and I didn't think any of the 5 were going to make it! So thrilling! I made sure the bottom is full of water! Any big do's or dont's to recommend?

I candled on day 5

the green and the blue look on track, most of all the others look to be on day 4, it is their time frame I have to go by not mine, but they look good. The one white one still looks like it has a blood ring, and I almost pulled, but thought, if they are behind, I might as well hang on to it. candling on day 8 not 7 since they are behind, I will yank then.

Cranked up humidity on mine last night. Still seems to be having trouble staying up there, the humidity pump is working harder than usual.
And like a dummy, I put an extra thermo/hygro in there, which had been calibrated at 5% low, and its showing super low around 40%. I'm sure the batteries just need replaced, but it has made me nervous.

Congratulations! I had 2 little chicks wake me up at midnight, something about wanting to go to the brooder, and Very loud so I gave em a ride to the warmed up brooder and went back to bed..... 2 more woke me up at 6, same story lol and 2 more hatched while I was getting ready for work so we now have 6 chicks in the brooder next to the 8 duckies that hatched yesterday. And it looked like we have 4 more external pips when I left! So hopefully more when I get home
That is awesome!!! Congratulations!!!

Good morning everyone!

As of this morning I have 8 tiny babies! I started with 10 eggs, one wasn't fertile so it was removed. That left 9. There is still one olive egg in the incubator that hasn't pipped and I saw no movement when I candled it. Today is technically hatch day, so I'll leave that last egg in, but I don't think it will hatch.

I'll get you some pictures this evening!

Here are the babies!
