February/March 2017 Hatch-a-long

I successfully hatched one poult. :-/ Hopefully my silkie does better. Just another day or so for her.

Something a but strange happened this evening. I had a Spitzhauben/ Easter Egger cross chicks hatch about an hour ago. The chick seems healthy, but there is a extra yolk left in the egg shell. It's small and looks kinda like a soft boiled egg yolk. The egg wasn't very big, but I'm guessing it was a double yolker and one of the yolks didn't develop. Does that sound right? I avoid setting really large (or small) eggs, but this one was a shipped egg and looked pretty normal.

Shipped eggs hatching. Was a little worried as this is day 22. 8/16 made it to day 18. 2 chicks out with 5 pips. Lavender and lemon Orpingtons.

It is pretty cute. I've named the poult Georgie and it is already very spoiled.

I had 5 eggs under a Broody (none of her own) 2 hatched 3/12 and 1 on 3/13. 2 were not fertile. The first to hatch didn't make it. The other 2 are now 2 weeks old.
