How do I read the arrow thingies > < ? Which is "less than 1,000 sq ft each"?
Math and I do not get along.
If one flock of 20 has 1/2 acre to range during the day, and one flock of 4 has 1/4 acre, and I'm about to mess it all up with 40 growing birds and divvying the pens up but leaving the 1/2 acre intact to rotate them through?
<1000 less than 1,000 sq ft

>1000 greater than 1,000 sq ft.

Sorry, I ran out of characters, couldn't spell it out (I tried)
An acre is about 43,000 sq ft. Half an acre is close to 22,000 sq ft. 20 birds half an acre is >1000 (greater than 1,000) or close enough that the answer you should pick. 4 birds in 1/4 acre is definitely more than 1k sq ft each.

When you have 40 birds in a 1/2 acre lot, you will be less than 1,000 sq ft each, but you still won't be densely stocked. ;)

Hope that helps.

Thank you!
I totally understand, making polls is challenging because you have to try to anticipate how different people will take it and compensate.

Yes, and (politely) I don't think like normal folk. Its a challenge I have some practice compensating for, but the occasional "translation" error crops up from time to time., in trying to render my thoughts coherent to a wider audience.

If you want to do less math figuring out how much area you have - google earth has a measuring option that will tell you in a wide variety of units

Edit to add, like if you have enough discalculia that it is difficult to estimate how big a 5 car garage is, much less how many of them might fit in your backyard. I'd be off by orders of magnitude if I did it by eyeing it. Just say'n. :)

Or just guess. If every one of your birds has enough space to make a 5 car garage, you likely have more than 1k sq ft each - or your garage is populated with golf carts and mini coopers. ;)
