Do I really need to buy another bag of chick feed? The big chickens get all-flock pellets. The youngest will be 4 weeks this week. Can I just make an all-flock mash for the littles?
Also do I need to continue to supplement niacin for the ducklings (also 4 weeks) if they are eating all-flock?

Okay, thank you! I just wondered, because all-flock is recommended when the mama raising them. This is my first time with bought chicks and the first we’ve ever had ducks. Apparently we got the chick itch before the hens did. And I am told ducklings are a normal part of chicken math.

All flock should be fine for the chicks, or if you want to use grower, the grower is fine for the adults too. Since the all flock is pelleted it might be easier for the chicks if you wet it or crush it into crumble/mash, as you noted.

I don't have ducks so don't know what they require.

Thanks!

I gave the grower to all birds until all were laying but make sure calcium is available for your older layers as there isn’t as much in the grower pellets I believe.

Thank you! And the do always have oyster shell available. We had stopped using layer, because I read it was bad for our Roo. Cooper is a perfect gentleman. I want him around for a long time.
