Feed turns to powder

I have a question. My girls are 7 weeks old and I have been giving them starter feed in a big 5 gallon container. They seem to be eating fine, but today I noticed that the more they eat the more powder/dust accumulates in the bottom of the place where they eat. I guess its from them pecking away and some of it breaks down. Should I be concerned with this or will the eventually eat the powdery food.

The powder is the minerals. They tend to eat the corn and good stuff first, leaving the powder behind. Do not give them anymore until the powder is gone.

Thats not exactly correct. But +1, dont give them more until they eat the dust/powder. That's the best solution in ny opinion.

What is the powder then? That is what I was always told. Or, is it the dust from grinding up the corn and soy and other grains?
