Feeder Build

That’s like a mini water tower. :D :thumbsup
Thanks, I had fun fabricating the stand for the bucket. This is how it looks today. I put some landscape blocks around the bottom and filled it with pea gravel, no more wet spot under the water tower. My plan is to move it closer to the wall and put a hinged piece of plywood on the 2x4.

Looks great! Do you have a build thread for your coop? It looks like it has evolved quite a bit too from the one pic to this one.

No, I didn't know about backyardchickens when I built it. I wish I had I would have built the coop a bit different... I do have the construction photos on this page.

It looks different because I changed the run from the PCV thing-a-blob to a proper structure with a roof, the coop was hiding behind a tarp that covered the end of the old run.

After watching the chickens on the chicken security camera this morning and looking at the small amount of feed in the trough I figured the 3 1/2" tall molding was too tall and replaced it with a 2" wide piece of 1 by... they can get to the feed much easier now and they look happy. So the front top is now 1 1/4" from the bottom of the feed trough.

Hind sight being 20/20 I could have cut the side parts of the trough on a 45 to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing to the chickens.

Thought side parts were good as is
because I was thinking the front piece might need to be higher,
but distance between front piece and clear piece bigger.

Time will tell, nothing wrong with tweaking a design after it's been in use for a bit.

That's what I originally thought about the front piece but the level of feed on the bottom is about 1 layer deep so they have to pull from the back for most of the feed. But like you say time will tell. At this point I'm happy with the design and it was simple to build.
