Feeding Wild Birds

Mostly bluebirds and bluejays lately. Suet feeder had to come in for a bit due to a nearby bear sighting (!!!), hopefully it’s deep enough in the winter now the bear is safely hibernating…

Oh yes, we still have the blue jays and sometimes a few doves, but not like summer.

Not 100% certain, but I think the deer have figured out how to empty the home bird feeders. They have been empty these last two mornings. Time to hang them higher out of reach.

I gave up between the deer, raccoons and coyotes jumping up. I had a metal tube style and if I left it out overnight they would knock it down and disassemble it to get the seeds

My feeders hang quite low, and I have wondered when the deer would start banging them around. Out of a flock of 27 turkeys, only one jake figured out how to eat out of the feeder. Speaking of turkeys, they have moved on to greener pastures. Haven't seen them in a long time.

Mine moved on too. A neighbor got a tom from me. The wild hens used to visit him. When they found him at the neighbor's, they moved in there.

I am sure they like it better there because he feeds outside while my birds only get fed iin the coop.
